Obituary
Pierce Brown joins Margaret Dozier Brown, his wife of 57 years, in the Bethelem  Church Cemetary. Margaret Lourise Dozier, daughter of Hilary Dozier and granddaughter of Squire Dozier, was born in SC on Sept. 17, 1928 and died there on December 28, 2001.

Doris Jean Berry departed Friday evening to join her parents and the Saints in Heaven. We love and admire this gifted woman who taught us how to find beauty and happiness in the midst of adversity. We thank God for the 80+ years she spent with us. We celebrate her life and revel in her triumphs.

>Reverend Johnny Carson Gantt

Saluda, SC: Reverend Johnny Carson Gantt of 180 John J. Rushton Road, the husband of Freda Perry Gantt, died on Friday, January 31, 2014 in the Hospice House of the Piedmont, Greenwood, SC.

He was born Sep 22, 1945 in Saluda, South Carolina son of Curtis W. Gantt and the late Bessie Dozier Gantt. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.
He was An Ordained Minister pastoring the Mt. Enon Baptist Church. Reverend Gantt was retired from SRS. He served in many civic organizations and church affiliations.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Lee Gantt.

He is survived by; his father and stepmother, Curtis and Luella Gantt of Saluda, SC; his devoted wife, Freda Perry Gantt of the home; son, Derell Jeffcoat, Columbia, SC; five daughters, Janet (Steven) Gantt-Tisdale, Saluda, SC, Stacie (Steven) Gantt-Langford, Charlotte, NC; Marlyn (Craig) Holland, Tongia Lott and Cassandra Gantt all of Saluda, SC; three sisters, Bertenia (John) Robinson, Minnie (Malon) Herbert and Betty Daniels all of Saluda, SC; fifteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; a number of in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and sorrowing friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the Riverside Community Center conducted by Pastor Calvin Robinson and Reverend Nikita Wigfall and others. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday, and on Wednesday 9-11 also. The body will be placed at Riverside Community Center at 12 o'clock Noon.

Leroy Cobb of 802 Hamilton Street NE, Washington DC 20011died September 4, 2009 due to Cardiac Arrest.
Leroy and his beloved wife Katie, who preceded him in death are shown in a photograph made shortly before her death in 2007.

Evelyn CollinsQuietly joins her forefathers in Heaven
Evelyn Dozier Collins of Conshocken, PA passed on Friday September 21, 2007. She was the eldest daughter of Burrel (Cap) Dozier and Elizabeth L. Cobb. Born January 14, 1911, she is survived by her sister Emily Dozier Todd and her son Felton Collins.

Rashad De'Eric Johnson Ascends to the Heavens

Rashad De'Eric Johnson, the grandson of Jean Lawrence and the son of Jacqueline Evans and the late Rodney Johnson, was shot and killed Wednesday, October 15, 2003.  Rashad was only 20 years old. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at the Jenkins Funeral Home, 7474 Landover Road, Landover, Maryland.  The services are scheduled as follows:

Wake: 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Funeral 11:00 a.m.

A repast will be held at the Community Center located at 3111 68th Place, Seat Pleasant, Maryland 20743.

Marvina "Dakota" Benefield Slips the Surly Bonds of Earth and Touches the Face of God

Marvina "Dakota" Benefield, Special Friend of James Cobb, died suddenly on Sunday, October 5, 2003, at Walter Reed Army Hospital.  The Saluda Family will miss the fun loving  Dakota who provided the food for the Hospitality Suite and catered the Picnic at the 2003 Gibson Dozier Family Reunion. Funeral arrangements are pending.  As soon as it is available, information will be posted here.

Our hearts are broken, we share the grief and distress felt by James and all of the family. We pray the All Mighty God will comfort the bereaved family.  We will miss Dakota's beautiful smile.

James C. Brown Ascends to the Heavens

The family lost one of its most active members Thursday, October 20, 1999.  James C. Brown lost a long and valiant fight against the ravages of diabetes.   Our prayers, sympathy, and love go out to the Brown family and we share their sorrow.
